Is this a Singles Club?
Professionals Guild is the largest and most innovative Singles social organization in the Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Area. We attract a diverse range of upscale singles from a variety of career backgrounds. With such diversity and a lack of required membership, we are more appropriately an association rather than a Singles Club. Maria Tebbutt founded the organization in 1985. When recently divorced, she found it difficult for a woman over 25 to meet quality singles. As she began networking, she met many professionals in the same dilemma.

Many people, after years of college life and bar hopping, find themselves single and don't know where or how to connect with other singles. So the Professionals Guild was born. We offer classy parties each month for Singles from about 25 through 50's with most in their 30's and 40's. It is a great way to get out, socialize and make new friends. 300 to 600 quality singles attend each event. Dance music includes great hits of the 70's, 80's, 90's and current hits. This is a great way to expand your social and business contacts!

What do I get for the cover charge?
You will be mixing and mingling with hundreds of other singles in a comfortable, friendly, and smoke-free atmosphere. The evening usually begins at 8pm. You enter the party being greeted by other singles who look forward to meeting you! The music is just right for conversation. The live band or DJ begins playing dance music at about 8:45 or so. The people coming to the party are upscale singles who are turned off by the "bar scene." They keep coming because they know Professionals Guild consistently attracts the classiest singles in town!

What is the age range of the singles attending?
The singles attending are from about 25 to 50's. Most are 30's and 40's. Every party is different because we change entertainment and location often. Each party attracts a different crowd. You are guaranteed to meet new people at every event.

Is there food at these singles parties?
Healthy delicious hors d'oeuvres are served the first hour: We begin at 8pm with the DJ playing upbeat jazz in the background, just right for conversation. The lights are dim; people are mingling while they get acquainted and enjoy the food.

Do I have to have a business card or be a professional?
It's not necessary to have a business card or be a professional. We do hold drawings for free VIP admission tickets using your business card, but also you can simply sign in. You do not have to be a professional to attend. 89% of our attendees have 4-year college degrees or higher; however, the common bond between the attendees really lies in their interests. Singles come to mix and mingle with other singles who share their intellect and fun-loving attitudes. They are looking for others to relate to; they find them at our parties. These people are not interested in the "bar types."

Can I do some business networking?
The Professionals Guild is a social organization and focuses on creating new friends and social contacts. We encourage you to bring business cards, but concentrate on getting to know people first. Your company may also wish to co-sponsor an event. Call us for details.

Do I have to join and become a member before I can attend?
No, you do not have to be a member to attend any of our events. We are currently revising our membership package and soon information on our new membership will be featured on this web site.

What kind of background do the attendees have?
Most are career-oriented business people and professionals. 89% have
4-year college degrees or better. However, you do not have to have a degree or be a professional. The only requirement is that you enjoy being around quality singles!

How many singles attend the events?
The events range from 300-600 people depending upon the location and time of year of the party. The New Years party draws up to 2,000 people!

Where are the parties held?
We use the Ballrooms of the larger and more attractive facilities, such as the Hiltons, Hyatts, Marriott, Radissons and Sheratons and private country clubs, in several different cities about once a month in each area.

What is the ratio of men to women?
It is a very even balance of men and women. Every event is unique and attracts new faces every time.

What kind of music do you offer?
We suggest that the musicians/DJ play music from the 70's through today's top hits, usually contemporary rock and roll, Motown, R & B, etc. The DJ assesses the crowd and plays whatever you want him to! Our DJ has a wide variety of tunes! If you have a favorite, ask him to play it. All the music is danceable and the dance floors are large, yet the rooms are large enough to hold an intimate conversation. We use different live bands and DJs to spice up each event and keep them fresh.

Can I attend by myself?
Most people do. Many people, when they find themselves single, realize that many of their friends are in relationships. This is your opportunity to meet other single professionals -- and maybe come to the next event together. Although you may be comfortable in your circle of friends, it sometimes creates a "clique." This puts you "off-limits" to other possible friendships or relationships. So, come alone or with a friend and be prepared to be open, and make new friends!

I've never done anything like this before.
Everyone has a first time. The first time is always the most anxious. Our greeter team is there to make you feel comfortable and welcome. We have an interactive icebreaker that is played by all. This helps to alleviate the nervousness you may feel when attending the party. The most important thing is to relax, mingle, dance and enjoy yourself!
